There was an exhibit and sale of paintings by guest artist Knox Everson and a silent auction of wines from members’ private collections with proceeds of $800 going to the Collierville Food Pantry.  Fundraising totals for the church are not yet available. Come Celebrate the Queen's Birthday & our Anglican Heritage

The Queen’s Birthday and Our Anglican Heritage will be Celebrated June 16  at St. George's Episcopal Church.

Each year the parishioners of St. St. George’s Episcopal Church, whose patron saint, St. George, is also a patron saint of England, pay light-hearted homage to our Anglican heritage by holding a lawn party on the garth to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday on a Sunday in June.  This year we will celebrate the Queen’s Birthday with a party on Sunday, June 16 following the 10:30 am Holy Eucharist. The celebration will include a Queen (parishioner Greta Coger standing in for HRM the Queen), colorful hats, the Sanctifica Wind Ensemble playing favorite English hymns and “olde english songs,” and an ice cream social.  You are invited to don your favorite garden party hat or festive head gear and join us for the festivities.

Here's some photos from last year's event.

"The Memphis Ten" are a group of ten very talented and diverse women artists, who, through the love of painting, meet every other month to discuss, critique and share their artistic endeavors. How did they begin? Approximately 15 years ago, ten local artists sharing a strong interest in their similar artistic energies, came together as a group and formed "The Memphis Ten". Six of the original members, Peggy Pollard Felsenthal, Nancy Hunter, Barbara Lieberman, Marty McKee, Betty Peyton and Virginia Schoenster continue to be actively involved . Additional new members this year include Betsy Bird, Sharon Grinspan and Ann Hylah Warner. Over the years these artists have attended regular art critiques and workshops leading them to opportunities for the exhibition of their work in local restaurants, businesses and art galleries.
