The Church Health Center’s first Teen Congregational Health Promoter class, which helps teens promote healthier peers in their congregation, begins June 6 and meets for nine consecutive Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union Ave. This class is free and open to the public. The Church Health Center will host its second-annual night of theater with a performance of The Color Purple at Playhouse on the Square at 8 p.m. on June 28. Tickets are on sale now and proceeds from the evening benefit the Church Health Center. The 6th Annual Men’s Health Summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at the UT Student Alumni Center, 800 Madison Ave. This year’s theme is “Living Life Under Pressure. The Summit includes multiple educational sessions, free breakfast and lunch, free health screenings, giveaways and more. Free cooking classes open to the community are offered in the demonstration kitchen at 9 a.m.,10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. every Thursday at Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union Ave. Participants with attendants are encouraged to attend the 4 p.m. class. St. Clare Half-Day Silent Retreats are held on the 1st Friday of each month. Next retreat is June 7, 2013 at St. Columba Conference Center. Deacon Mimsy Jones will lead the Eucharist and meditation.
